Gadu-Gadu's VoIP offering just recently had its 4th birthday...

It all started on 14th February 2006 when Gadu-Gadu launched its own Internet telephony service under Gadu naGłos brand. Now it's quite safe to say that Gadu-Gadu has the largest SIP based VoIP implementation in Poland. We started working for GG at the end of 2005 - it took us a few months to develop the service before kicking off in February 2006. Since then the service grew dynamically size and functional wise - receiving calls from pstn in the im client, calls between GG users, free calls to pstn daily, voicemail, integration with mvno network, and more ... :)

In 2007 Gadu-Gadu was the first carrier in Poland to launch ringback tones for pstn calls answered in the im client. Gadu-Gadu was also the first carrier to launch HD voice calling for all calls between Gdau-Gadu im users based in iSAC GIPS codec. In 2009 video calling was also launched.

The current statistics behing the service are quite impressive

- 1,5 milion active users (where active = at least 1 call in 3 months)
- more than half of the active user base also uses video calls
- 3 milion calls monthly
- 20 thousand established calls per hour during peak
- 0,5 mln voicemail boxes

gaducha.pl - the click to call based service !

Gaducha.pl was launched on February 24. We have actually planned to launch a web based click to call VoIP offering for few years now but there were always things to do which had higher priority and those were mostly to do with the never ending MVNO project. So after launching the MVNO service last year and after things settled down - we've decided to dust off the idea again.



The service is very straight forward to use. On the web page you enter two telephone numbers - yours and the person you are calling, click call and that's it! You can also trigger a phone call by sending a premium sms - we call you back and connect you to the number in the sms message. It makes VoIP more user friendly - without the need of microphones, headsets or tieing the user to the pc.

The service is quite revolutionary when it comes to charging - a flat fee is charged per call, with very low rates. Basically it is assumed that statistically not every call will be max duration.

Gadu-Gadu MVNO finally launched..

Last week we have finally launched GaduAIR – Gadu-Gadu’s MVNO. The whole project took more than two years, and span off rapidly after we signed the deal with Polkomtel in December 2007. So what is GadAIR ?

GaduAIR pre-paid offer integrates the mobile phone with Gadu-Gadu Instant Messenger. GaduAIR combines mobile telephony, instant messenger, Internet telephony and Web 2.0 social networking services. It also combines all prepaid services to single account with one recharge valid for all paid services offered by Gadu-Gadu. It is a convergent offer – in terms of services and charging.

So what does the user actually get ? ..well first of all new, cool mobile offer with free access to mobile version to Gadu-Gadu. Other Polish GSM networks either charge for the data traffic or a fixed monthly rent fee – so it’s a clear distinction. The MSISDN number also becomes Gadu-Gadu number (GG uses numeric identifiers similarly to ICQ). Apart from that the user gets a bunch of bonuses for online recharges and data packages with each recharge which in effect make the offer quite interesting and an average user gets Internet access for free.

GaduAIR innovative offer includes:
1. Single number, the MSISDN number is also Gadu-Gadu number
2. Mobile/Java version of Mobile Gadu-Gadu for free
3. SMS, MMS, voice notes to SNS blog profile and gallery
4. Single prepaid wallet for all services, mobile, voip, e-commerce
5. Single voicemail box for all services, GSM and internet telephony/IM
